Tip to Increase Productivity & Motivation
-
In my last few posts I have mentioned that my productivity and motivation has been going downhill, it started when I decided (was too hungover to work) to give myself a couple of days off – after all I had such a good previous month I deserved some time to spend with family, friends etc etc.
I was checking my stats every day either on my phone or using my computer, I often left it on all day to respond to any chats, emails and check stats every so often throughout the day. This “couple” of days off soon turned into a week and I still didn’t have any motivation to do any work, although I saw a decrease in my performance I kept coming across the same problem. It was the fact that when I was talking about my business to my friends/family (who none are affiliate marketers) they were still amazed at the amount of profit I classed as bad for a day. This got me into the wrong mindset thinking that the wage I was making is still pretty damn good, instead of pushing myself to work I was becoming content still earning that kind of money and spending the time with my mates.
Over the last few days I’ve been speaking to my other affiliate marketer friends and that’s just made me realise I’ve been slacking. At one point I was on track (slightly behind) with a close friend of mine and now that my earnings have dropped below the $10,000k revenue mark his have shot up to over $30,000/day! I’m not saying that if I carried on working through the 2-3 week spell of laziness I would be doing those figures but I can be sure I would have got new things launched and been able to keep my performance up if not increase it.
Morale of the story is to stay connected to other affiliates, seeing their success does rub off on you and get you in the mood to crank out campaign after campaign.
Just as I got my motivation in place as you will know my hosting decided to suspend a prosper202 script forcing me to spend the time to get a dedicated server, get prosper back up and running and I’m just about to get back on track (after the weekend

Great post…highly useful to me right now.
A question — does it ever make sense to run Prosper on shared hosting? I’m a newbie and can’t afford dedicated.
If so, could you recommend a host?
I guess I could go Tracking202, but it seems weird to run all my campaigns through servers I don’t control.
Thanks!

I used to run it through a reseller which was fine until about a week ago. In the beginning I would say it makies total sense to run it through shared but just be careful and keep an eye on your resources etc.
I used to host with hostgator but I’ve read there are some problems I think for installing prosper202 now so I would have no idea, best to look about and perhaps ask in forums.

Richard, I guess it’s all on who you talk to. My motivation is driven by my desire so when I slack off I just think about what I want out of life.

It’s good to see you’re back on track again. I’m having the same problem, streaming moving all day long.

lol, dude, just saw this post – I just had the exact same experience with prosper, my host suspended my account and I had to upgrade my hosting. Turned out ok in end, but had me worried for a few hours there.. check it:

Richard, from my own experience, competing leads to success but also causes brief frustration. Frustration because you try to push yourself over the limit. When you don’t see the results as fast you expect, it causes grief and frustration. Worse, you forget how to live your life for that brief period because you’re cooped up in your room in front of the computer all the time.
Past few months is been frustrating for me. I worked twice as much but my results didn’t go anywhere. So, I’m now taking a break and will recharge and start things over in coming weeks again. So, in a way giving yourself a break is sometimes good and is needed
One thing that you’re absolutely right about is and probably admit to yourself too is that talking to other successful affiliates will help you go from 1k a day to almost 10k a day. Because people do share what they are doing and how they do it.
I just haven’t hit beyond 1k yet. Part of the reason is I don’t have any connections and friends in this industry I’ve pretty much been at it alone for almost a year now.

Based on what you know, is there any downside to using Tracking202 vs. Prosper202? On one hand I wouldn’t want any T202 admins having access to my statistics but on the other I would think using Tracking202 is more reliable than installing Prosper202 on a third party server. One would think the creators of T202/P202 would know the best server configuration for there scripts. Also if T202 sucked why would anyone sign up for T202 Pro? Just some thoughts.
I guess one downside to using T202 is not being able to hack the script like you mentioned in a previous post.
