Think Personal
-
I’ve been doing a fair bit of thinking how I can take a campaign to the next level and improve my profit levels. There are a number of ways you can scale a campaign as I lightly touched in Paul’s affiliate marketing secrets contest – read the post here.
This post will be more on the third point I mentioned in that post “Improve your landing page CTR”, just think, if you are using PPC marketing then if a visitor has landing on your landing page then you have already paid for the click. A slight increase in your landing page CTR can have massive results on your ROI – here’s an example:
Offer Payout = $30
Offer Conversion = 10%Landing Page 1 = 1,000 visitors – 20% CTR – 200 click through – 20 conversions = $600 revenue
Landing Page 2 = 1,000 visitors – 25% CTR – 250 click through – 25 conversions = $750 revenue
As you can see that extra 5% on your landing page CTR will earn you an extra $150 from those 1,000 visitors so you should never settle for a low percentage. Keep split testing elements of your landing page to try and get an extra couple of percent here and there.
Off the top of my head these are a few things you can split test (in no specific order):
• Background colour
• Headline
• Hero shot
• Call to action text
• Call to action colour
• Images (men/women/child/adult/etc)
• Opening paragraphPractically everything on your landing page, big or small can be split tested to suit your target audience better.
One thing that I have been looking into is using PHP on my landing pages, making the landing page more personal will build trust. Why not include the user’s country or city to make them feel that what you are offering is targeted to them and them only.
Make sure you pay attention to your conversion rate as well as CTR, changing something may not affect the CTR a great deal but it could lead to more people actually converting when they click through to the offer you are promoting.
I am actually going through a series of tests myself so expect to see more on landing page CTR and how to improve it.
