So What Have I Been Up To?

If I’m totally honest I haven’t had much time to do anything with affiliate marketing, yeah I know I should be making the time if I want to succeed with affiliate marketing but I have a number of other things that need my attention.

First off I work a 9-5 so that’s a huge chunk of time on a daily basis (5 times a week) focusing on other things that come first. I then have a regular client who needs content written pretty much on a daily basis which provides me a nice amount of money each week for a few hours a day.

Next in line is www.lpcreations.com, if I have any unique orders I try to get on them as soon as possible so that it doesn’t affect my reputation of having bad customer service or that I can’t stick to the timeframes on site.

I also have a number of sites that I intend on creating but trying to focus on affiliate marketing as my primary priority.

When all of the above is complete I can finally sit down and concentrate on affiliate marketing, so how far have I come in affiliate marketing?

I’m a member of Click Consultants and we’re currently going through a workshop and I must say that it’s priceless to be able to contact people making $XXX,XXX every month and ask them questions about setting the perfect campaign up. Feeling this would be a great start I got involved as Derek was advising us on the necessary steps, i.e. find a domain, set up a landing page, suggesting offers to run, get X articles done along with X pages, that sort of thing. I really suggest that you sign up and take a look what the forum has to offer, although it’s not as active as it used to be, it’s still a goldmine as you can get your questions answered by the people that know what they are talking about. Not to mention we get 6 landing pages free of charge so that alone is worth the monthly fee of under $30.

It took a while but I finally did everything that was stated and began to grasp how to put together a campaign and some of the tools that will make life easier. I was a little worried that I rushed the keyword stage because I didn’t use any tools such as Wordze and fell quite short on the amount I had compared to the others taking part in the workshop.

Before I took the jump into affiliate marketing I was a regular amongst all of the popular blogs that offer help and advice in this industry so I knew the basics and had also learnt that it’s not the amount of keywords you initially gather, it’s the quality and broadness of them.

For example if I was to gather 10,000 keywords that revolve around the same phrase then I would be better collecting 3,000 that range in phrases so I could get a trend of what’s converting for me and expand on it. Also in order to get a high quality score you have to group them as tightly as possible making the ads relevant to the keywords.

With everything in order (or so I believed) I set the campaign live the other night to see how it would perform.

Be sure to check back as I will be posting the results and how I intend to make changes to make it profitable.
