Shifting My Focus
-
The recent events with my main campaigns going downhill got me thinking about the future, I mean I can’t keep on focusing on one income stream. Although April was a great month for me in regards to profit it will eventually run out. I’m comming to grips with the full time affiliate marketer lifestyle, campaigns will come and go, it’s a case of banking off of them while they are hot. Don’t get me wrong, you can build a solid campaign that will last years if done correctly which is something we should all be working towards.
Although costly (in a fashion) this has been a great lesson, I took the lazy marketer approach when I began to do well and sat back and worked on other things which won’t make me money for at least a couple of months when the project is complete – mainly due to the reason because I enjoy working on those projects better. Instead I should have split my time and still focussed on affiliate marketing and not being happy with my current performance.
I keep going on about how I want to diversify my income to provide a safety net although I never seem to get round to doing it. I met a new contact last night after he sent me an email via this blog about getting to know each more on a business level and helping each other out and after having a chat I really decided to try my luck in facebook ads. I’ve read everywhere that there is money to be made if you can do it correctly but I always thought I’de stick with search/content networks. There is only one way to find out if it’s worth my while right? I launched a quick campaign on facebook last night and as expected – my ads got disapproved
I’ve modified the ads according to the guidlines and resubmitted them so I’m just awaiting the outcome of that.
Just thought I’de do a quick post while I was uploading campaigns and waiting for my ads to get checked out.

Yes diversifying is the key to affiliate marketing. Would be really interesting to see if Facebook works out for you.
A couple of reasons for being against facebook ads i’ve heard are:
- full of kids, that don’t spend money
- lack of context, you can target demographics but you can’t target the person who is actualy searching for “Left Foot Pink wellies for amputees”
But then again facebook is the new friends reunited for older people, it’s facebook’s biggest growing audience. So might not be full of kids as much. But not being able to target what people are searching for is a problem…

Yeah I agree on you not being able to tightly focus on your demographic but from what I’ve seen you could make a good campaign on it – you just need a good offer.
As for kids you can target your age range which will eliminate that factor, I like the fact you get an idea of the amount of users you will be targetting as you go through the ad process.
I think only certain offers will work well on facebook, just needs some research.
I’ll let you all know how it goes anyway when I mange to get approved

I have been on Facebook for a while.
i wanna say — The offer is very important.
my first offer rebill is suck enough. spend 100 bucks without single conversion.Even my AM said “maybe it is not good today”,but i just pause it.I checked everything setting is right. Finally i think maybe the Offer is not right for FB.As Steven said, there are a lot of kids, even someone are fake age. they have no CC.
since my 100 bucks gone,i got pain.after 1 week,i changed my offer to re-launch,disapprove coming…
they disapprove more, i submit more. Finally 15 ads ,get 2 approved.
I remember one day i got 80 conversion. That make me crazy for one night.
Richard, Try more offers. some email submit offer is better.

Richard,
You story is very similar to mine. I’ve done affiliate marketing part-time for over a year now in just one niche. That’s right. I promoted this one offer for almost 8 months banking 15k each month. Finally things started to go down hill eventually with increased competition, slaps and decrease in payouts. Now, my profits aren’t as good as before and I’m having to switch offers every week to see what works. I’m still in the same niche. I’m scared to move out. But I realized affiliate amrketing is all about banking on one opportunity and moving on. and that we should diversify.
Anyway, I just want to let you know that facebook advertising has a lot of potential. The tips I sent you yesterday were given to me by a person who has done $8k a day in revenue on facebook. So, yes, affiliate marketers should always diversify their traffic sources and most importantly diversify niches and offers.

@John: If you’re going to promote CC offers on facebook, you gotta make sure you target the right traffic. People with CC and People over 18 I suppose. For example, If it is a anti wrinkle offer, you know people (mainly women) over 35-60 are your potential targets.

I would think that FaceBook from an advertising point of view is the wrong direction, unless you’re heading down the road of creating your own widgets.
I know a couple of associates of mine that are doing well creating FaceBook widgets, but they say that it’s so hit and miss that the only way to prove the viability of is to introduce it into the marketplace, which takes some deep pockets.
FaceBook as an advertising model is struggling because the market is young as mentioned above.
What about good ol Google natural search traffic?

Hi guys,
Facebook is a new and growing market for Internet marketers. The people themselves at Facebook are new to PPC and advertising.
I’ve been testing and tweeking for almost three months now and continue to succeed with solid daily profits.
The only element holding me back is in the scaling of the campaigns is Facebook itself…and the way they deliver traffic (which we’re still working on.
Important… and alot of people continue to get this wrong – Facebook is NOT predominantly used by the young!!!
“Two interesting trends have emerged in the Facebook audience figures. First, more women use Facebook, regardless of age. Second, the site continues to see more growth with users over age 26, with the majority of the growth coming from users 35 to 44 years of age”.
Re-read the above and take action!

However, it seems pretty hard to write the VALID ad copy to be approved on the facebook, I always got disapproved when submitting new ads. It seems they are really so strict in the ad copies. Any good idea on how to write effective and easy to be approved ad copy for facebook?
