Richard Bonner vs. Inspired Affiliate: Week 1

Being ¼ through the competition I am a little disappointed in my performance because I haven’t done as much as I would have liked to. To tell you the truth bar the little changes such as tweaking and swapping the offer for a few days I haven’t done anything productive with the campaign I have running. I have slowly been working on my next campaign which I plan on launching today at some point if I can finalize the keywords so that should give me a good boost in revenue to totally ruin Pauls chances of catching up with me :p .

Below are the overall stats of what’s been going on (as of the 7th September).

    Richard Bonner: $840

    Inspired Affiliate: $163

As you can see we are both falling short of our goals this month but I’m still pretty confident I can reach my target of $4,000 in revenue by the end of this month. Going on the past week I need to generate another $400 in the last 3 weeks of this month, to put that simple I need my new campaign to generate $17.40 a day in order to get my goal – I’m sure that’s possible!

Back to the competition, I will include some of the screenshots to show you the breakdown of my figure above.

    Yahoo Search Marketing (cost)

    Yahoo Search Marketing

    MarketLeverage (revenue)

    Market Leverage

    Azoogle (revenue)

    AzoogleAds

Overall I made a profit of $233.14 for the first week which I can’t complain about, but I still need to push this to be making that each day!

I did a little experiment with the offer I was promoting which seemed great the first day but then over the weekend it died down – I’m not sure whether it was to do with the weekend. I made the mistake of swapping the offers when I should have split tested them so I could compare them both fairly.

Getting slightly worried I decided to switch back to see how yesterday went, which was a significant improvement from the day before so I’m in two minds what to do. I guess I will have to rotate them both evenly so I can get a true result of which converts better.

    Plan of action

I should really go back to my campaign and tweak it to the super affiliate level, I need to snap out of the being ok with the performance and push it to the max. On the good days of this campaign it can pull in anything from $60-$100 profit, at the same time it does also lose money some days but these are getting less frequent which is a good thing.

The first mistake I can make is to be ‘happy’ with the performance and leave it running, that’s the different between a full time affiliate and a super affiliate. I need to be constantly tuning and tweaking everything to get that $100 a day profit to $1,000+ profit a day, this is something I am guilty of not doing.

Aside from my main campaign which I’m relying on to pull me through this competition I need to get a few more going making a solid profit each day. If my offer was to get pulled or something was to happen I would go from making $XXX a day to $0 until I spend the time finding and changing it around, it would just be a matter of time until Paul overtakes me and takes the lead.

This is why I’m going to launch my other back up campaign today hopefully (tomorrow at the latest) so I can increase the lead and reach my goal this month. I’m a little weary of this new campaign because you may have read my other post about the keyword experiment I’m doing, I will be reporting how that does in the near future.

Well you are doing a lot better then I am so far :P

Good to hear that you realize that you made a mistake and switched offers instead of split testing them. At least you know now what you did wrong and can go back and do what you should have done the first time.

Keep up the great work, will be interesting to see how your keyword experiment works out.

    Thanks Jarret,

I’m actually interested myself because it could go either way at this stage. I personally think they are broad enough to give me a good indication of what will work so I can expand on that.

Fingers crossed it will perform better than this one :)
