Facebook Test Part 1

    As you know I have been testing an offer with Facebook and getting some ok results, the first day went pretty good and I turned a profit. My spend was hitting $50/day dead on every day it ran – I assumed at first it was just how much I spent but I’ve found out there is a cap on your account in the beginning, I received an email from them today saying it’s been increased to $250/day so it will be good to see how much of that gets spent.

    I still have a lot to do, my ctr is down to about 0.03 across the whole campaign (3 ads) so I’m hoping with more impressions that will increase, I will also be creating more and more ads now that I know there is a market for the offer.

    What I’m thinking of doing is creating a page before they get to the offer basically asking them for their name/email in order to see if they qualify for the offer (or something along those lines), once they have completed that step I will be sending them to the offer page I’m currently sending them to in order to try and make some revenue back off the bat.

    That way once I have their email address I can try to market them other products/offers related to that demographic down the line. This is my first time at building a list and marketing to it so it will be good to see how it goes.

    I’ll work on the page and hopefully get it in place to be live tomorrow or later on today.

    Hey after you’ve hit your daily cap about 2-3 times, you can email affiliates@facebook.com and ask to be move to $1k/day. And if you hit that limit, you can go even further. But $1k/day is the furthest I went :)

    I think facebook doesn’t allow landing pages with opt-in boxes. Not sure but do make sure.

    I tried promoting with a optin on the landing page. They reject it every time. Since you are spending more than me. They may allow it. I recommend contacting them though. That way you don’t waste time trying to get an ad approved that they do not allow.

    @ JT – Yeah I got an email saying it’s been pushed upto $250 then another email earlier saying it’s been increased again to $2,000/day :)

    @ Niche – Hmm I’ll have to check but I’ve seen people direct linking to email submits etc. I will keep you updated when I switch the page and make new ads to what happens

    @ Deneil – Yeah, I think that may be best – or at least ask around people that know facebook inside out.

    Nice job Richard! There is definitely money to be made by advertising on facebook and other social media sites out there. Good luck…I’m sure you won’t need it though ;)

    I can say from personal experience that Facebook _does_ allow direct linking to pages with email opt-ins on them.

    In early June, I did a very basic experiment with direct linking to a Commission Junction vendor, with a highly targeted Facebook ad, and then did another experiment with the same ad, but directing them to my opt-in page. Once they submitted an email address, I sent them on to the vendor page.

    In both experiments, I made about 30% of the Facebook ad-spend back by sending them to the vendor page, and then made another 5-7% back with each targeted email I sent to the list I had collected. I believe creating targeted lists is a viable way to move forward, and is often the only way to justify the high cost of advertising affiliate programs that only return 4-5% of what is spent at the affiliate site.
