Don’t Just Sit on a Profitable Campaign
-
After seeing some success (especially if it’s your first) it’s very easy to just leave things as they are and make a nice profit off that campaign for a while. I would strongly suggest you do so until you have enough cash flow behind you to avoid any problems with growth. You have to keep in mind that if it’s your only successful campaign it could literally end tomorrow, depending on your niche and approach there could be a flood of competition, new laws/rules to abide to or the offer might just die out which will throw you back to stage 1 in trying to make a living online.
For the last month or so I’ve been using cash flow as barrier to getting more campaigns up and running, I have been working still and gathering keywords, making landing pages ready to launch new campaigns – I even launched a couple but when I saw them lose money in the first few days I paused it as I didn’t want to affect my overall profit per day.
If you want to become successful at affiliate marketing in the long term you cannot rely on just one campaign to pay your bills, you should be reinvesting most if not all of your profits back into new campaigns to get them off the ground making the income more stable as a full time wage.
The last couple of days have been a bit mental as I have been working on campaign after campaign and have actually just launched 3 more campaigns which will most likely bring my overall profit/day down but the potential to sky rocket it in the near future. Don’t be afraid to lose out on some profit and test new campaigns.
A good method of keeping track is to download the excel file I talked about in this post which will help keep your campaigns performance separate.

Hi Richard! Are you creating your landing pages yourself? or you typically outsource LP creation?

Hey Anton,
At the moment I do everything myself, I will be considering outsourcing things in the future if I find a company/person I like.

Hey,
Love you site. keep up the goos work!
Have a question I’d love to hear you answer: Are you buying new domains for every new campaign you create, or do you the same domain over and over?

Thanks Jman,
Yeah I buy a new domain for each campaign, mainly because it helps to have a couple of keywords or the main theme of the landing page so that your display url is relevant to what people will be searching for.

Great Richard!
Actually I see you are pretty good at web design, so what do you think is enough to know for creating landers for CPA offers – Photoshop, Dreamweaver, CSS or Fireworks->Dream? Or you typically use more advanced web design knowledge?
I think of studying the stuff as outsourcing really takes both time (explaining what you need, waiting for the project to complete) and money…

Same here. Out sourcing is pain. You never get you were looking for in the first place. If you ask them to create a landing page based on a example and don’t say anything, it turns out to be the same. If you direct them what to do, then it takes way longer and they miss out on small details. These designers never use their imagination. At the end its never what you wanted. I end up fixing itmyself at the end.
Too bad i’m a designer otherwise this would be so easy.

Anton, I think if you are wanting to design/create your own landing pages then knowing PhotoShop and Dreamweaver would be enough. I like to design mine as an image in PS first because it’s easier to make quick changes and then once I’m happy I usually just slice it up and use basic HTML to get it working.
If I feel I want to build out the campaign I will try to build a site and add more content to it to make it look a lot less like a landing page etc.
Niche Affiliate Marketing, I have the same opinion on outsourcing, the few times I’ve tried it I’ve always had bad results. Whether it be design or copywriting I’ve always had to make the changes myself so I figured I would just do it myself from the beginning.

Thanks for the answer Richard! It lead me to actually master Photoshop and Fireworks, as I know that both programs allow to slice and export page layouts into Dreamweaver (I’m good at it).
So, basically learning basic design skills takes not as much time as it may seem initially. (I’ve mastered Dreamveaver in 2 weeks with a guide book ) At least we don’t need design masterpieces for making money with our landers and sites))

Yes, outsourcing is a pain, but you have to do it to save your time and experiment various customization, I remember those days when I spent days for working on a small piece of php code which I found can be done in 10 minutes by someone who knows it only for 10$, of course you have to spend some time to find a good and reliable freelance company/person.
