Day 7 – 18th August 2008
-
Another day, another goal smashed… Previously my best profitable day was $28.42 until today, I managed to increase that by 50%. Here are the stats for yesterday:
Impressions: 21,549
Clicks: 172
CTR: 0.80%
Avg CPC: $0.40
Cost: $69.34
Revenue: $112
Profit: $42.66
ROI: 61.52%What did I do?
If you read my last blog post you will notice that I put my maximum daily spend up to $50, well about 7pm (UK time) I was looking at my statistics and had already spent over half of my budget with hours still to go. I decided to raise this limit yet again to $100 to see how it would perform, I believe in the no risk, no reward saying and it certainly paid off this time.
Not only did I break my personal record of most profit in a day, along with the most revenue in a day but I managed to push myself ahead of target on August’s goal which is a good feeling and provides me with more flexibility in trying to improve the performance.
The impressions had doubled so it gave me a better tuning session weeding out all of the keywords that weren’t bringing in clicks and driving my overall CTR down. I followed the same rule I have been applying to my keywords since day one and decided to remove the daily spending limit to see what this campaign can really do
I figured if I’m making a steady amount of profit on a daily basis (bar 2 days out of 7) why not throw more money at it to see bigger returns.
This could in essence turn my campaign around so I will be keeping a close eye on the performance to make sure there are no stray keywords bringing the campaign into the red.
Be sure to check back tomorrow to see if I can take this campaign to the next level

Is the niche you started in over a year ago still working for you?
Just wondering what’s the time a niche can turn from profitable to unprofitable. It seems to me that it’s just a matter of time when competition finds the profitable niche your in.

Yeah I’m still using the same niche, just evolved as time has gone on using the skills I’ve learnt.
It all depends on the time is can begin to decline, you need to stay one step of your competition and it could last for as long as the offer/market is there.
One problem I have come across is after a few months of not touching it my landing page CTR has about halved forcing my ROI to drop significantly – this suggests to me that you need to be tweaking it constantly.

I’m really interested in this affiliate marketing, that’s why I’m browsing your archives. I hope you’ll answer my questions if I have one. ^_^
