Day 5 -16th August 2008

With the fact that I didn’t do anything after my significant loss, I was curious to see the results for Saturday.

    Impressions: 9,343
    Clicks: 70
    CTR: 0.75%
    Avg CPC: $0.40
    Cost: $28.10
    Revenue: $56.00
    Profit: $27.93
    ROI: 99.29%

It went from the worse day to the best without changing a thing bar the simple tuning I have been doing daily so I’m not sure what caused me to lose so much money previously.

I was happy that I nearly reached my desired goal of 100% ROI, feeling fine on the Sunday I decided to get back into the swing of things. I went through the usual tuning process deleting the keywords that were pushing my CTR down, I also deleted the ad groups and any keywords that had 0 impressions since the beginning.

I’m now down to 27 ad groups in total so it’s less daunting to make any changes and monitor. I also implemented dynamic keyword insertion into my landing page to try and boost my QS which will be assessed in the next few days.

  2. I decided to go back and read through your posts since the beginning, to see what I could pick up along the way, as I am taking a similar path in affiliate marketing.

Have started early this year part time, and will do PPC to CPA full time now (or almost, as I have other online business ventures).

    Back to your post:
    > how did you set your Content vs Search ratio in YSM to achieve these results?
    > I see you did not do 1 kw = 1 ad group. Now I know this works for the Content network: are your conversions coming from the Content or Search networks?

all the best to your success, mate ;-)

PS: I have trouble starting new campaigns in Google (QS…) so I think I am going to systematically test a new campaign in YSM first… any thoughts?

  3. This entire time I assumed your results were from the search network only? Are you even using the content network in this case study? Your response would be greatly appreciated.
