Day 4 -15th August 2008

I didn’t do much work on my campaign this day as it was Friday and I just had the weekend on my mind and deserved a nice break away from work to let my hair down. I did do something that I feel was very beneficial to my campaign, I assessed my landing page load time which came back as poor. This could be ruining my conversions as the longer it takes to load the page up in the first place – the more chance of them just hitting the back button.

Getting a better load time is really simple, I just opened up all of the images used in PhotoShop and reduced the quality slightly. It’s basically just trial and error to see how much you can reduce it by and not affect the quality too much. Anyway after doing that it was coming back with a good load time so I was happy…

Until I woke up the next morning and checked the statistics for the previous day.

    Impressions: 8,098
    Clicks: 77
    CTR: 0.95%
    Avg CPC: $0.41
    Cost: $31.48
    Revenue: $0
    Profit: -$31.48
    ROI: -100%

I have no idea what happened that day but I didn’t manage to convert a single person and it pushed the campaign from the green to the red overnight :( .

    So what did I do?

Not feeling to great I didn’t want to think too hard, I may have had a bit too much to drink the night before ;) . I did the simple tuning process I have been doing and then called it a day and waited to see the next day’s results.
