Case Study, First Impressions…

If you read my last post you will know that I was mainly concerned with the amount of keywords I had gathered for this campaign but going for the factor of “quality over quantity” I decided to let rip and launch it on the 22.07.08 at around 10pm (UK time). I was psyched to see the results the next morning and couldn’t wait to check.

Logging in as soon as I could the next morning I was disappointed, I had around 350 impressions with a few clicks to my landing page. Rushing to check AzoogleAds on the off chance of a lead I wasn’t getting my hopes up – much to my expectations I had no leads.

    So what did I do?

I left it running the whole day so that I could have a good basis to begin tweaking, removing the keywords that had impressions that wasn’t relevant to the topic. Not having a great deal of impressions it was hard to decide whether to keep them running or not as people state to delete keywords with over XXX impressions and 0 clicks.

I let the campaign run for about a week, remaining to tweak it on a daily basis to see if I could pick up the performance. I also upped the minimum bid from $0.20 to $0.30 to see if this made a difference to the amount of impressions I received.

    Summary

Basically I have come to the conclusion that I needed to do more keyword research and get in the XX,XXX range and heavily tweak on a daily basis removing any keywords that have an overload of impressions with no clicks lowering my CTR significantly.

I have stopped my campaign and I’m going to go back and perform more keyword research and start again, I’ve signed up to Wordze which has already gathered 5 times as many keywords within 20 minutes of using it.

    End results of the campaign

    Impressions: 4,284
    CTR: 0.65%
    Clicks: 28
    Avg CPC: $0.20
    Cost: $5.74
