Affiliate Marketing Results: March 2009

    February was my best month to date in affiliate marketing so I had quite a reputation to keep up to if I wanted to remain in the 5 figure profit per month club. I had a few campaigns die out through March which was worrying but leaving my day job towards the end allowed me to get sorted and ready to work on campaign after campaign.

    I also set a new monthly record in terms of profit slightly so I’m happy about that, here are the results:

    Revenue = $23,551.80
    Spend = $12,200.99

    Profit = $11,350.81

    Hey Richard,

    Congrats! Good to see you improving each month. May I ask how many campaigns do you currently run?

    Hey JimmyT,

    Thanks for the comment – at the moment I have about 3-4 live, 1 was launched today so I’m still in the process of tuning that one and I’ve just about got another one ready to go tomorrow so fingers crossed I can increase my earnings pretty soon.

    Have been following your blog & progress from a while back… very interesting stuff you have here & well presented…

    Am curious what kind of campaigns you run, CPA or other type of affiliate networks?
    Enjoy the sun!

    It is great to see you spend less and make a better ROI. I can’t remember which report it was but you spent something like $19,000 one month and made roughly $8,000. Now you spend $12,000 and make $11,000. Awesome!

    I have been trying to comment less so I can read faster but I am curious about a few things…

    1. What was your 9-5 job that you quit? I am interested in knowing your background (web developer, designer, finance, marketing, etc?)

    2. You said you run 3-4 campaigns. Can you comment on whether you prefer per lead, per sale, trial offers? Also, are these $10, $20, $30, $40 CPAs?

    You don’t have to answer all of this but it doesn’t hurt to ask. :-)

    Hey Josh:

    1) I didn’t have any kind of marketing or web design background before I started working online (I had self taught myself HTML etc throughout school), I used to work for a bathroom company helping with their stock input, despatches and other bits and bobs adding products to their website etc.

    2) I don’t have any preferance at the moment, I’m actually doing a case study against clickbank and CPA offers so it will be interesting to see how they do.

    Thanks for the quick response! It is encouraging to know that affiliate marketing can be for anyone who is willing to sacrifice the time and effort into making it work no matter what their background is. You are living proof.

    Thanks, Richard!
