8 Months Later
-
When I started back on 12th August 2008 I had no idea where affiliate marketing would take me, I had a full time job so I was just getting my feet wet and trying to make a nice side income on the internet. The last few months have been going very well for me and it seemed that the only thing that was holding me back was the number of hours in a day.
My ‘to do’ was growing at a quicker rate than I could complete jobs off of it, as of today I will be able to finally go through that list as a full time affiliate marketer. I have been waiting for the perfect time to make the jump and I’ve realised that there will never be that ‘perfect’ time to leave a steady income each month. For me it was just a case of building up a nice safety net as a backup in case things were to go downhill.
Along with my recent transition from part time to full time I’m hoping that with more time dedicated to creating and managing campaigns I will be able to increase my earnings over the next month or so.
I’ve spent the whole day sorting out my home office, there are a couple more things I will be buying then I might see about getting a picture or two up of the finished version (for now
).I’m also hoping that I can get back to writing on a more frequent basis on here like when I first started it. I have a few topics I would like to talk about that I have stumbled across since starting out in affiliate marketing.

Looking forward for the pic of the office. I know you’ll make it as afull time affiliate. Peopple say the hardest part is going to $1000, from there it’s only a question about motivation. Do you have any specific goals in life? Not talking net figures here, but actual life
.
A tip from me is getting dual screens. It does make things a lot more effective. And it looks cool.
Looking forward for more posts.

@ JimmyT – Thanks, keep plugging away at it and I’m sure you will make it, it only takes one campaign to pick up and you will be well on your way
@ J – I’m planning on going out today and finish buying everything I need so fingers crossed it will be done today too.
In regards to specific life goals the obvious one is to be financial free, being able to go out and buy anything without thinking about money
I would like a couple of properties in different countries so I’m never tied down to anywhere. Other than that I haven’t thought about the future of my affiliate marketing business – just taking one day at a time at the moment.
I already have dual screens
well I use my laptop with an external 22inch monitor but I’m in the process of looking around and buying a new desktop so I’ll post an updated picture when that’s been complete.
I always questioned why people have more than one screen but I never knew how much of a difference it made having the 2, it would probably be hard going back to working on the one full time switching between everything constantly.
@ Markus – Thanks! So long as you stay motivated and dedicated to your campaigns good things will happen. My hardest mindset was to keep going if I was losing money – try to think of it as an investment more than a loss.

@ Ari – I have been doing affiliate marketing since Aug 2008. I did do a lot of research and reading into affiliate marketing before I got stuck in, I’de say a month or 2 – mainly because I didn’t have a great deal of money to invest into it.
Prior to that I have been making websites for a couple of years but I have never made any substancial amount of money from them.
@ Muzi Mohale – Congrats on your decision, I’m still settling in working from home (I’ve done next to nothing in this week so far work related
)
Good luck!

Hi Richard
Mnay congratulations. Your story is an inspiration plus your also a BRIT like me.
How many affiliate offers are you presently marketing to reach the present levels of income. To hit $1000 in a dat for profit is phenomenal (I did read it right on your last messages a few weeks ago didnt I)
Do you market consistently all day or do you restrict your google campaign to specific periods in the day.
Cheers
Tony

@ Tony – At the moment the majority of my income comes from 1 main campaign. You did read my other post correctly being $1,000/day in profit but unfortunately I’ve only had the one so far
My revenue and spend seem to have dropped over the last couple of weeks compared to what it was a month or so ago. I’m in the process of watching which hours my campaign does best, I used to day part but I have changed the offer around so I’m going to check what hours the current offer does best.
@ Muzi – Nice blogs, I’ve been wanting to get a travel site up for a while based on UK attractions etc but nothings ever come from it

Richard, it would be interesting discuss on affiliates and their payment methods. As a South African based publisher, I cannot participate in any international affiliate program since most if not all only pay publishers through paypal. Paypal does not allow African based users to receive funds through their facility. Have sent them endless emails complaining about it,without any success. It’s really unfair that African publishers cannot extend their revenue streams through affiliate opportunities. Luckily Google has been smart enough to also offer cheque payment option, which enables us to be part of the adsense affiliates.
